Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 Digital Camera user reviews

    "I bought a sony DSC-w200 one week ago for a friend's birthday present.It is FANTASTIC,now i want get one for myself. "
"What does Sony love to deliver most — besides overblown speeches about giant enemy crabs? Products that jam multiple components into delightfully, mysteriously small packages. With the 5.1-ounce W200, Sony manages to fit a 12.1-megapixel-image sensor inside the case of a diminutive point and shoot camera. At its best, the W200 captures nice-looking shots with true color and little noise. At its worst (read: low lighting) it delivers inconsistent results, with a few photos containing blotchy color artifacts and poor detail. Sometimes fiddling the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed improves the image quality, but it also means dealing with layer upon layer of tedious menus. —Grace Aquino

WIRED Optical image stabilization, face detection techniques, and 9-point autofocus system generate handsome snapshots. Buttery smooth 3x (35 to 105-mm film equivalent) optical zoom. Fast shooting: 1.7 seconds from power-on to first shot and 0.6 second shutter lag with flash and focus.

TIRED Outrageous $400 price tag — we’ve found 7-megapixel cameras with similar performance and image quality at almost half the price. 2.5-inch LCD has a grainy quality and mediocre detail. "

"I have bought 4 Sony digital cameras since 1996 and have been happy with them all. I have had 4 other brands of digital cameras and I always come back to Sony. The DSC-W200 is the best of the 9 digital cameras I have had. It is fast, easy to use, and very small.

"This TINY little point and shoot makes me grin every time I use it. I own those fancy digital SLRs, like Nikon and Canon; but this little gadget beats them hands down as far as resolution. Sony w200 is a little cumbersome due to its small size (thus my 4 stars for "ease of operation"), but set the Image Stablization to ON, and even shakey hands won't blur the shot too much. Put it on a tripod and you simply will not believe the clarity and vibrance of color and the detail this little 12 megapixel gem can create. (HINT: you can find it cheaper if you look to your local mall and the biggest and oldest named department store). In any case, I never thought I would ever recommend a non-SLR cam anywhere. But this one it the cat's meow! Cannot wait til these companies start making 14 and 16 megapixel units!! Wow....
